Plantation Jamaica 2005 – Tasting Notes
Nose:
Intense and expressive Jamaican funk right away—ripe banana, pineapple, overripe mango, and hints of fermented tropical fruit. Underneath the esters, you’ll find vanilla bean, toasted oak, plantain, brown sugar, and a touch of allspice. Light smoky and herbal undertones from the long pot-still fermentation.
Palate:
Rich, bold, and full-bodied. Big tropical fruit character—grilled pineapple, banana bread, papaya. Layers of molasses, caramelized sugar, nutmeg, and clove. The French oak finishing adds notes of cocoa, roasted nuts, and a bit of dry tannin. Classic Jamaican “funk” balanced with sweetness and oak.
Finish:
Long, warm, and spicy. Lingering esters, tropical fruit peel, dry oak, and a hint of pepper and vanilla.
Style:
A classic, high-ester Jamaican rum—pot-still heavy, vibrant, fruity, and complex.
