This Pinot Noir-Gamay blend is a fresh and lively take on these two varietals! The Coteaux Bourguignons appellation can apply to wines from either Burgundy proper or its southern neighbor Beaujolais, where this wine comes from.
This is an almost dead-even blend of 55% Pinot and 45% Gamay, with the Gamay aged in cement vats and the Pinot partially aged in used oak barrels. The result is a sprightly red that represents a harmonious balance between these grapes, starting with a bright nose of raspberry, cherry, and spices. The palate is fresh, breezy and red-fruit driven, but with a sinewy framework to provide some substance. Crunchy red fruits stand at attention on the finish, making for a lip smacking end to proceedings!
