Single cask single malt distilled by Glen Elgin, independently bottled by Douglas Laing for the excellent Old Particular range. It was distilled expertly by Glen Elgin back in March 2009 and allowed to age in a refill hogshead for a dozen years, until it was bottled in September 2021 with an outturn of 353 bottles.
Tasting Notes:
Nose: Candied ginger and dried peels, with hints of buttered bread underneath.
Palate: Vanilla, cassia, black pepper, toasted brown sugar atop flaky pastry.
Finish: Malt loaf, a smidge of tobacco, and more vanilla.
